PictureFX Faux Infrared – Updated 2024 Edition
This is not your typical infrared filter. Based on the original 2020 PictureFX LUT that mimicked the surreal look of IR photography, this new 2024 version brings a significant upgrade in both realism and flexibility.
The updated LUT improves tonal separation in foliage, enhances sky contrast, and introduces more balanced skin tones—making it more versatile for landscapes and even the occasional portrait. Colors now shift more naturally into the faux-infrared palette without the muddy shadows or overblown highlights of older versions.
Want more or less drama? You control the intensity via the Strength slider in RawTherapee (or any LUT-compatible app). Crank it up for a bold Aerochrome-inspired look, or dial it down for a subtle infrared feel.
Inspired by classic IR aesthetics, but designed for modern digital workflows.
Works best on green landscapes under good lighting. Don’t forget to experiment with white balance for the best effect.

What’s included in this download?
You’ll receive a single ZIP file containing two files:
- One
.cubefiles– These are compatible with most photo and video editing software, including:- Adobe Lightroom / Photoshop
- DaVinci Resolve
- darktable
- Luminar
- ON1 Photo RAW
- and many others
- One with a size of 64×64×64
- One
.pngfile – Specifically intended for use in software like:- RawTherapee
- ART (A fork of RawTherapee)
- or other compatible tools
These PNG LUTs come in:
- 512×512 resolution
